Jump Starting a Car

It's not a good feeling when you try to start your car and nothing happens. Fortunately, you have the opportunity to get a jump start. Before you do anything, make sure both cars are turned off and that parking brakes are set.

The first step is to attach the positive cable clamp to the old battery's positive terminal. Then, attach it to the positive terminal of the new battery. Attach the negative cable to the negative terminal of the new battery. The next step is very important. Connect the other end of the negative cable to a metal section of the engine, such as a bracket or block.

When you turn the engine on the good car and allow it to run for a few minutes, you should be sending power over towards the disabled one. Start the other engine and you should be good. A visit to the service department at Gillman Mitsubishi may be a wise idea at this point.
